Our Beliefs

Picture
The hallmark of Friendship Baptist Church is the preaching and teaching of God’s eternal Word. One trend in preaching today is to soften the truth of how God expects us to live. The result is that truth is weakened to the point of being just another religious option. At Friendship Baptist, the preaching is an unapologetic declaration of timeless precepts from the Bible coupled with practical applications for daily life. This type of practical preaching may call for change on the part of the hearer. Therefore, at the end of each service we invite individuals to respond to God by making decisions of change that were called for from God’s Word.

Distinctive music is another special aspect of Friendship Baptist Church. After just one service you will realize that our intent is to glorify God to the best of our ability. Our traditional, yet exciting, congregational singing and special music aids each individual’s opportunity to participate in expressing God’s worth to Him. It is a time used to bring glory to God by facilitating corporate, public praise.

  • We believe the Bible is the sole authority of our faith and practice. The Masorectic Text of the Old Testament and the Received Text of the New Testament (Textus Receptus) are the texts through which God gave us the King James Version of the Bible which we use.
  • We believe in the total depravity of man.
  • We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ.
  • We believe the Lord Jesus Christ became a man without ceasing to be God, died on the cross, was buried, and rose again from the dead.
  • We believe in justification by faith.
  • We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in baptism for believer's only by immersion.
  • We believe in the Lord's Supper as a remembrance of the Lord's death till he comes again.
  • We believe that the New Testament church is a local assembly of baptized believers who have voluntarily joined themselves together to carry out the Great Commission.
  • We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing, were temporary.
  • We believe in the pre-millennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in a separated life for believers from worldly attitudes and alliances.
  • We believe the Lord created the world in six literal, 24 hour periods.
  • We believe the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman.
  • We believe that human life begins at conception and the unborn living child is a human being. And also that the direct taking of a human life is a moral evil regardless of the intentions.
